Perfect running conditions greeted a record turn out for the sprint up the mast.

As always Gordon Lennox (Forres) blasted off at the start and cruised to an easy victory. His legs were a bright green blur as he grabbed the course record by 21 seconds.

Former record holder Graham Bee (Inverness) was 2nd, followed by 3 team mates.

The race was the first round of the club championship, so dragged 24 hillrunners to endure the highspeed run up and down the path.

First home was new recruit Jack Trevelyan who snuck passed Dougie Macdonald soon after reaching the top. Ultra specialist Ryan Mackenzie was 3rd HHR.

Starting only her 8th season of hill racing, Karen Lyons was triumphant in a great ladies race. Karen was 4th lady to the top but then elegantly thundered down the hill to snatch victory by 23 seconds from Forres' Kirstie Rogan. Rhona Grant was next home, not far ahead of 5th placed team mate Megan Bee.

The Inverness club had arranged for the building of a new path, with steps, in an attempted to make the course even more roadie friendly than normal. HHR's crack legal team are on standby to battle any attempts at dualling Nurses Brae.

Despite the roadworks and the clutch of yellow and puce vests at the front end of the field, the hill runners easily retained the vitally important Prestige Trophy.
