  • Beinn Bhan Bash

Three (not so) Wise Men, adorned in HHR vests were visible amongst the full body cover favoured by the majority of the 58 runners at the inaugural Beinn Bhan hill race.

On a mild but wet and windy Sunday morning, the runners set off up the mile long forest track before turning onto the steep, grassy and saturated slopes of the 2600ft hill. As the mist descended, Finlay’s bright orange OMM jacket glowed like yonder star as he loped effortlessly to the summit. He emerged from the gloom long before the Three Kings and the other disciples reached the top, cruising home in 38.25.

Young Luke had a Majestic return to hill racing after a month off with illness to record an impressive 48.23 to secure 10th place, his 3rd top 10 finish in as many senior races. Taylor Snr enjoyed the slog to finish 18th in 54.50 and Ed Bradley came home strong in 26th with a time of 57.43.

Ben Nevis race runner up Diane Baum was 12th overall and 1st lady in a time of 49.37.

Although the HHR triumvirate bore no gifts (nae pockets), they traversed afar, field and fountain, moor and mountain following yonder star................. Merry Christmas to all.
